Life Saved #2597

On July 28th, 2024, a 7-year-old girl choked on chicken resulting in a partial obstruction. Protocol was followed but was unsuccessful. LifeVac removed the obstruction on its first use! The child’s mother describes the incident as follows:

“It was definitely an emotional experience and I am so thankful for your product. We adopted my daughter in July of 2022 and have navigated lots with her medical diagnosis. She has Q22 chromosomal duplication, a submucosal cleft, swallowing difficulty, and has undergone feeding therapy for almost a year. We knew this would be a lifelong struggle for her. We truly hope this is the only time we will need LifeVac but are grateful to know we will have it on hand if needed. This incident occurred with a piece of grilled chicken cut into a bite-size piece. She was not able to pass it with water or attempts at back blows and stomach thrusts. She was awake and semi-alert during the situation. She did vomit after the LifeVac was used. Her pediatrician was alerted and we were advised to follow up to ensure it was cleared, this was confirmed in our emergency department. We have 7 kids, I’m so grateful a local family was vulnerable enough to share their story and encourage me to buy one. With 7 kids I love having peace of mind that if anything happens I am prepared.”
